The Brookline Community Foundation brings the full strength of individual and community forces together on behalf of those in Brookline who need it most, focusing efforts to address our shared problems head on.

We are the only foundation that addresses Brookline as a whole, spotlighting community needs, inspiring philanthropy, and awarding strategic grants that create a more vibrant, engaged and equitable Brookline. To support this mission, we seek grant proposals that demonstrate creative and strategic thinking, leverage partnerships and resources and address community needs.

Applying for a Grant

We know that the application process takes thoughtfulness on your part, and we’ve tried to be thoughtful about it on ours. Brookline Community Foundation accepts all grant applications through our Online Grants Management System. Among its benefits is the ability to control organizational contact information; to draft, save and submit online applications; and to upload documents and reports.

Please be sure and read the instructions below before beginning a grant application.

Step 1:
Review Grant Guidelines

Each of the Brookline Community Foundation’s grant cycles has its own guidelines for eligibility, application and deadlines for submission of proposals.

Applicants are required to read the RFP guidelines before starting the application.

Step 2:
Create an Account

All applicants are required to create an account. We suggest creating your account well in advance of the grant deadline to avoid any last minute issues. At the time of registration you are required to enter the following information:

  • A username that is an email address

  • Your contact information

  • Your organization’s information, including the EIN/Tax ID number (required)

  • Contact information for the organization’s Executive Officer

Step 3:
Complete the Online Grant Application

Your application(s) can be saved in draft form, and when you log on again it’s easy to return to that draft, make edits, and submit the application. Each account maintains a record of the application history that you can access at any time.

Step 4:
Brookline Community Foundation Will Review Your Application

Funding decisions are made through Brookline Community Foundation’s grant review process by the Program and Grants Committee. This process may include a site visit or follow up phone call with Brookline Community Foundation staff or members of the Program and Grants Committee.

Step 5:
Final Grant Decisions are Made

You will be notified by email if your organization receives full or partial funding or in some cases, if funding is not available for you at this time.
