The Brookline Community Foundation continues to be here for the Brookline community, standing ready to support our neighbors through the challenges brought by the COVID-19 crisis.

Our 2020 Safety Net Ramp Up

For more than 20 years, the Safety Net Fund has provided emergency assistance for individuals and families in financial crisis. Administered by The Brookline Center and supported by a powerful local network, the Safety Net provides small, timely grants to individuals and families that keep food on the table, people in their homes, and other urgent needs met.

We’ve raised more than $1.2M for the Safety Net since the COVID-19 crisis began, including $500K in Town commitments.

Needs Remain High

The BCF Safety Net continues to receive a large volume of calls for assistance every week, with many neighbors requiring extensive support. We’ve raised the cap on the amount and number of requests a household can make, and the Brookline Center has added staff to ensure that every inquiry receives a thorough response from a trained case manager.

You Can Help

We anticipate extensive need for many months to come and urge those who can to make recurring donations so we can fully meet our community’s needs.

  • a $100 grocery gift card can help keep food on the table
  • $650 of rental assistance (average) can keep a family in their home
  • These flexible grants can be used for utilities, medication, and other urgent needs as well.

Thank you for helping to build a supportive, caring community that we all can count on in uncertain times.
