About the fund

The BCF Scholarship Fund for Brookline High School (BHS) provides crucial need-based scholarships to graduating high school seniors to support the transition from high school to post-secondary education and minimize financial barriers to college.

Furthering education beyond high school is key to young people’s ability to build a future in which they can thrive. However, too often financial barriers—particularly for students from low-income families, first generation students, and students of color—prevent students from beginning, continuing, and completing their post-secondary educational journeys.

Fund history

Established in 2014, the BCF Scholarship Fund for BHS provides crucial need-based scholarships to graduating high school seniors to support the transition from high school to post-secondary education and minimize financial barriers to continuing college or professional training. The BHS Scholarship Committee, which consists of all BHS guidance counselors, determines scholarship recipients annually.

Since its founding, the BCF Scholarship Fund for BHS has awarded nearly $100,000 to 75 students – alleviating the financial burden of starting college or vocational training and providing a solid financial foundation for the crucial first year of post-secondary education. Through the contributions of a growing group of donor champions, Brookline students are realizing their dreams for their futures:

“This scholarship gives me needed support to pursue my undergraduate studies this year. My family and I will be able to relax from the stress of college tuition for a period of time thanks to your donation.” Ankith – 2020 Scholarship Recipient

“I do not come from a wealthy background, so this scholarship is a huge help to me. Thank you for helping make my dream come true. I’ll be sure to work extra hard in college knowing that generous people like you are invested in my future.” Sandek – 2019 Scholarship Recipient

“I am so thankful for your kind act and hope one day I can be as generous to a complete stranger like your generosity towards my family and I. I am so grateful that I was raised in such a great community like Brookline where it seems the entire community is interested in the future success of the next generation.” Michael – 2019 Scholarship Recipient
