| Steps to Success
Steps to Success Program, formerly known as the School Community Partnership, works to level the playing field for low-income and recent immigrant Brookline students. Focusing primarily on students and families who reside in public housing, Steps to Success provides its participants in grades 4-12 with academic support, enrichment and career awareness programs, and summer internships, all with the goal of making college an aspiration and a reality for these students. BCF has supported Steps to Success since its inception 6 years ago through grants, advocacy with the Town, technical assistance with the preparation of grant applications for federal funds, and in many other ways. 2006 year marks the High School graduation of the first Steps to Success class. 84% of the graduates from the program are going on to college. In honor of former Executive Director Betsy DeWitt, BCF created the Steps to Success Scholarship Fund, a flexible fund for Steps to Success students for college preparation, application and transition needs. |
