Brookline Teen Center Initiative
“BCF was behind the Teen Center from the start. For the past three years they provided guidance, office space, and support we needed to get on our feet. Now, a location has been secured and construction is expected to begin in 2010.” Paul Epstein, Founder, Brookline Teen Center Project
Brookline Teen Center Fund supports the planning and realization of a center that will foster the healthy development of Brookline's teens. Since the Fund's inception in 2005 there have been over $300,000 in donations made to the project.
Parents, educators, and other professionals working with youth agree that there is currently a shortage of services and opportunities for children between 6th and 12th grades in Brookline. In 2005 an exploratory group was convened to consider the feasibility of opening a Teen Community Center in Brookline to fulfill this need. The center will focus on fostering the healthy development of Brookline's teens in the areas of social/emotional functioning, physical / recreational activities, and academic enrichment. By providing a hub of programming for this age group, the teen center will make an enormous positive impact on the lives of teenagers in Brookline.
